Why I Live in Boracay

This morning, while lying under the sun by the pool, a thought came to me:
“Why have I chosen to live in Boracay, instead of back in Korea?”

The answer is surprisingly simple.
Here, there are many things I don’t have to do myself.
Driving, doing the dishes, cleaning, laundry—
tasks that were a given in Korea.
But in Boracay, I have help.
And the time I save is time I get to spend on what truly matters.

No matter how hard you scrub the dishes, your life doesn’t change.
But in that same time,
I could be kite surfing over the sea,
jogging through the morning breeze,
waking up my body with a swim,
studying English,
writing blog posts,
or learning how to grow a YouTube channel.

Freedom doesn’t come from having more time,
but from how you spend the time you already have.

Back in Korea, even when I moved fast, I always felt like I was behind.
Eat, then wash the dishes.
Finish work, then clean.
Prepare for tomorrow without ever catching my breath.
But here, with the little things taken off my plate,
I find that bit by bit—
my life is transforming.

And that’s why I choose to stay.

Be happy today.
